Why State Policy Matters

As 2020 heats up, we'll be hearing a lot about the bold, progressive policies that we could be passing at the national level. However, the most important changes that sweep America--legalizing gay marriage, women’s suffrage, and the movement towards affordable health care--have almost always started in the states. Massachusetts has often led the way. We are not leading now, but we can do it again.
