Volunteers for Young Candidate Training and Mentorship Programs

With the recent launch of YoungAndRunning.org and its new interactive features, we are looking for political experts, young or old, who have worked or volunteered for political campaigns in the past and who may be interested in one of two initiatives that we believe will be greatly helpful to young people entering the political process. Both of these projects will provide a stable training and support network for young candidates, and are very likely to increase the number of young progressives who choose to run for local political office. They are geared to help turn young activists into successful young candidates, constructing a strong Democratic presence for the next generation. The first of these is a campaign workshop. Based on a tested model, we can provide the tools to run a four-hour workshop for only about $100, instructing young candidates or politically active youth in the essentials of running a campaign, with information on everything from crafting a message to campaign financing.

For this to succeed, we will need volunteers all across the country with expertise in several realms of the political sphere. If you or anyone you know of might be interested in providing this service, please respond to this e-mail with the following information:

Name:
City:
State:
Experience:
Area(s) of expertise, in which you’d be willing to teach a workshop:
How far are you willing to travel?
Are you willing to work for free?

Our second project is a candidate mentorship program. For this, we are seeking people who hold or who have held political office, and who might be willing to provide periodical advice and guidance to young first-time candidates. This is not a huge commitment, but an important one, as running for office for the first time is certainly a daunting task. .
